On 10th October, 2018 we attend a workshop about Bangladesh tourism that was organized by National Tourism Organization.

About Tourism

In today’s world of globalization, tourism is considered as one of the world’s major and rapidly developing industry of the modern world. For any country, tourism is capable of having a significant influence on economic development. Tourism can add extra value for the Bangladeshi economy, however such influx of tourists can only be achieved amidst proper usage of effective marketing plans and to have a long term oriented growth strategy. While most of the neighboring countries in South Asia and South East Asia have already been successfully operating their tourism industry for quite some time now; Bangladesh is still quite a fresh tourism destination. Bangladesh  has an enormous potential to develop tourism primarily because of its attractive unadulterated natural beauty, which can be experienced all throughout the land.

Workshop time

This workshop take a full day. target finishing in a single afternoon. That would be no more than 4-5 hours, including a working lunch and a couple of breaks.

Preparation for Workshop

Large flip-chart, poster-sized sheets of paper, Sticky notes,  ball point pen.

Participants

Product owner or key stakeholder, Development team members, Stakeholders, users, customers

Focus

1.Branding Bangladesh in digital and social media as a new travel destination in the world.

2.Create a distinctive image of Bangladesh through effective marketing and promotional campaign in online media.

3.Increase visitor’ arrival to Bangladesh from the main source countries.

4.Create local awareness about conservation and preservation of tourist sites and resources.

Welcome Speech

Firstly they were welcome their participants, Special Guest and Chief guest showing three videos( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MljARGytuNo&list=RD8sQd4f76iF0&index=24 , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dMTB2QF2FAQ,  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hIo3lkALDlg  ) that was welcome to beautiful Bangladesh(Lands of Rivers).

Then Officer of Bangladesh Tourism Board Mr.A.K.M. Rofikul Islam Presented Guest and total participants divided by 4 groups. That was Branding group, Development Group, Marketing Group and idea generating group.

Group Discussion And Paper Work

Branding Bangladesh:

          Nation Branding is a concept coined by simon anholt in 1996. What is a brand? It’s a Logo, Identity or Product. A Brand is a person’s Gut feeling about a product, service or Organization. We Need to Brand a country because of In a globalism world in which now we live every place has to complete with every other place for share of mind, share of income, share of talent and share of voice. Nation Branding focuses on the nation as a whole  it’s people, culture, heritage, product and exports, tourism and so on. One of the loudest branding voices used by a country that makes it distinctive, Memorable and competitive. Bangladesh offers simple opportunities to tourists for angling, water skiing, river cruising, hiking, sea bathing as well as bringing one in close touch with pristine nature.

Marketing and Promotional Campaign

         Marketing campaigns promote a product through different media, including television, radio, print and online platforms. Campaigns don’t have to rely solely on advertising and can also include demonstrations, word of mouth and other interactive techniques. Businesses operating in highly competitive markets may initiate frequent marketing campaigns and devote significant resources to generating Brand awareness and sales.

Presentation

Every group present their presentation the key point of their group discussion. They took 5 minutes for their presentation and 3 minutes for question and answer time. They present importance of tourism, Impact of tourism, types of tourism, tourist spots in Bangladesh, how to promote tourism website, How to develop website by developer, how to marketing Bangladeshi tourism spots.
